When teeth require very large fillings, it is often advisable to make a crown for the tooth. [Figure 1]

There are many different types of crowns, however the best crown for a front tooth is generally an all-ceramic crown. [Figure 2]

Here you can see how the all-ceramic crown fits over the tooth like a hood, and this is why crowns are sometimes referred to as "caps". [Figure 3]

All-ceramic crowns are very realistic and can often be made as a perfect match for the adjacent teeth. If you hadn't seen the earlier photos, could you tell which tooth was a crown and which teeth were natural? [Figure 4 & 5]
